Eagle Hunter Tour Mongolia — Private Kazakh Culture Journey
The eagle hunter tour Mongolia offered by Trinity Adventure Mongolia takes you deep into the remote wilderness of Bayan-Ölgii in western Mongolia — home to one of the most extraordinary nomadic traditions still practised on earth today. Over 11 days you will ride horses and camels across dramatic mountain terrain, sleep under vast Mongolian skies, and spend two unforgettable days living alongside the legendary Kazakh eagle hunters and their golden eagles.
Your adventure begins with an epic overland drive from Ulaanbaatar to Bayan-Ölgii, where endless steppe horizons, glowing sunsets, and star-filled skies set the tone for everything ahead. After two nights of wilderness camping, the journey leads into the heart of Tavan Bogd National Park — a land of towering peaks, glacier-carved valleys, and deep Kazakh nomadic culture. Read more about Tavan Bogd National Park on Wikipedia.
Stay in traditional Kazakh gers, ride horses and camels across dramatic mountain terrain, and hike to panoramic viewpoints. Continue to the Milky River (Tsagaan Gol), where turquoise glacial waters cut through wide open plains. Here you will experience Khurkhree-style horseback riding and share the daily rhythm of nomadic families who have lived in these mountains for centuries.
The highlight of the eagle hunter tour Mongolia is an immersive two-day encounter with the Kazakh eagle hunters themselves. Live alongside these skilled masters, learn how they train and bond with their golden eagles — a tradition passed down through generations. Dress in traditional Kazakh attire, take photographs with the hunters, and witness a way of life that has remained unchanged for centuries.
Your return to Ulaanbaatar follows a scenic overland route with two more nights of camping under vast Mongolian skies. The adventure concludes with a comfortable night in the capital before your departure.
The eagle hunter tour Mongolia is one of the rarest travel experiences in the world. These traditions are fading — travelling now means witnessing something real, alive, and irreplaceable. Learn more about Trinity Adventure Mongolia and our story.

The Kazakh eagle hunters of western Mongolia are nomadic families who have practised the ancient art of hunting with golden eagles for centuries. The tradition is passed from father to child and involves years of training to build a bond between hunter and eagle. It is one of the most iconic and rare cultural traditions still practised in the world today.
Basic riding experience is helpful but not required. Our guides will assist you with both horse and camel riding throughout the journey. The pace is relaxed and designed to be accessible for travellers with little or no riding experience.
The best time is between May and October for warm weather and accessible mountain terrain. September and October are particularly special as this is when eagle hunters begin their hunting season and traditional eagle festivals take place in the region.
Accommodation varies throughout the journey — you will sleep in tents during the overland sections, in traditional Kazakh gers with nomadic families in the mountains, and in a comfortable hotel or guesthouse in Ulaanbaatar. Sleeping in a Kazakh ger under the Altai Mountains is itself one of the most memorable experiences of the entire tour.
Absolutely. Our eagle hunter tour Mongolia is completely private — whether you are travelling solo, as a couple, or as a small group. The itinerary is designed around you and can be adjusted to suit your pace and interests.
This tour is rated moderate. You will spend long hours in a 4x4 vehicle on rough overland tracks, do some hiking, and ride horses and camels. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended. If you have any health concerns please let us know when you contact us and we will advise accordingly.
You will meet real Kazakh eagle hunter families who live and practise this tradition as part of their daily life — not as a tourist show. This is one of the things that makes Trinity Adventure Mongolia different. We have genuine relationships with these families built over years of respectful visits.
