Day 1 to 10

The Reindeer Expedition to Taiga

Your adventure begins in Ulaanbaatar, heading north through Mörön before venturing off‑road into Khovsgol Province, where you’ll embark on a scenic horseback journey through untouched forests and mountain valleys, leading you to the reindeer‑herding Dukha families of the Taiga region

Day 1 — Arrival in Ulaanbaatar Arrive at Chinggis Khaan International Airport. Your guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in the city center. Settle in, rest, and get ready for the journey ahead. Overnight: 3-star hotel in Ulaanbaatar

Day 2 — Ulaanbaatar → Bulgan Aimag An early start as we head north out of the city. The landscape opens up into rolling steppe and countryside as we drive approximately 6 hours to Bulgan Aimag. Tonight we sleep under the stars.Overnight: Wild camping in tent

Day 3 — Bulgan → Khatgal, Lake Khövsgöl We continue north toward one of Mongolia’s greatest treasures — Lake Khövsgöl, home to some of the purest freshwater on earth. Arrive in Khatgal village by the lakeshore and breathe in the mountain air. Overnight: Ger camp by Lake Khövsgöl

Day 4 — Khatgal → Tsagaannuur This is the most challenging day of the expedition — a 12-hour drive on rough, remote roads deep into the north. We take proper rest stops along the way to enjoy the untouched wilderness around us. By evening, we arrive at Erdene’s Guest House in Tsagaannuur village, a warm and welcoming base before the Taiga.Overnight: Erdene’s Guest House, Tsagaannuur

Day 5 — Tsagaannuur → Taiga Today the real adventure begins. We ride into the Taiga on horseback or reindeer — your choice. The forest gradually deepens around you as we make our way to the camp of the Tsaatan reindeer herders. Arrive by evening and settle into your yurt among the trees. Overnight: Yurt stay in the Taiga (Night 1 of 2)

Day 6 — A Full Day in the Taiga Spend a full day living alongside the Tsaatan people. Meet the reindeer, hear their stories, and experience a way of life that has remained unchanged for centuries. Optional trekking and reindeer herding activities available. Overnight: Yurt stay in the Taiga (Night 2 of 2)

Day 7 — Taiga → Tsagaannuur We say goodbye to the Taiga and ride back down to Tsagaannuur. Return to the comfort of Erdene’s Guest House for a well-earned rest, a hot meal, and a shower. Overnight: Erdene’s Guest House, Tsagaannuur

Day 8 — Tsagaannuur → Mörön A long drive south brings us back to civilization. Arrive in Mörön, the regional capital of Khövsgöl Province, by evening. Check in to your hotel and enjoy a proper dinner. Overnight: 3-star hotel in Mörön

Day 9 — Mörön → Ulaanbaatar The final long drive — approximately 10 hours back to the capital. Reflect on the journey as the steppe rolls by. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and check in to your hotel for two nights of rest and recovery.Overnight: 3-star hotel in Ulaanbaatar (Night 1 of 2)

Day 10 — Free Day in Ulaanbaatar Your day to explore. Visit the Chinggis Khaan Museum, browse the cashmere shops of the city center, or simply relax after an extraordinary adventure. Overnight: 3-star hotel in Ulaanbaatar (Night 2 of 2)

Day 11 — Departure Morning transfer to Chinggis Khaan International Airport. Safe travels — and thank you for being part of the Taiga.
